Pharmacy Voice releases statement on pharmacist independent prescibers

In November 2016, the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC) launched a discussion paper to gather views on proposals to change the supervision requirements of pharmacist independent prescribers (PIPs) in training.

Pharmacy Voice welcomes the GPhC’s proposed changes to the supervision requirements of PIPs in training and has issued a response to the GPhC survey.  More widespread independent prescribing by community pharmacists will be required for the sector to work in the ways described in the CPFV, which sees community pharmacy playing a significantly enhanced role in the delivery of integrated, personalised care, support and well-being services.

Pharmacy Voice has also released a statement on independent prescribing in community pharmacy to support our response to the discussion paper.
