Pharmacy Voice statement on David Mowat’s appointment as Pharmacy Minister

Pharmacy Voice has welcomed the announcement that David Mowat MP will be taking on responsibility for community pharmacy within the Department of Health. The department confirmed his appointment as Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State for Community Health and Care earlier today.

Commenting on the appointment, Pharmacy Voice Chief Executive, Rob Darracott, remarked: “I am pleased that we are now clear on who in Government we will be working with during this pivotal period for Community Pharmacy

“David will bring a fresh perspective on the sector. He now has a great opportunity to ensure that the Government and the sector works more collaboratively, as we continue to develop a positive vision for the future of community pharmacy, through the forward view.

“We have written to the Minister seeking an urgent meeting to discuss this, as well as to seek clarification on the department’s plans around the recent community pharmacy reforms consultation.”
