Pharmacy Voice, in collaboration with Pfizer Healthy Partnerships, today release the second edition of ‘Talking Point’ best practice publication. Launched in September last year, Talking Point is a series of publications targeted at commissioners and pharmacy teams, showcasing some of the great programmes, initiatives and individuals working to improve patient outcomes and demonstrating the value of the pharmacy sector.
The second edition of Talking Point focuses on medicines optimisation – an area in which the pharmacy workforce is already making a great contribution. In this edition you can read about how community pharmacy is supporting patients to manage their medicines, improving public health through blood pressure checks, detecting symptoms of lung cancer, and even how pharmacists are using Skype to reach more patients and provide ongoing support.
Pharmacy Voice Chief Executive, Rob Darracott, commented:
“2016 brings fresh challenges for community pharmacy as the NHS looks for more ways to control spending while improving outcomes. Yet, at the same time as announcing hard-hitting plans for funding cuts from October, the Department of Health has restated its pledge to place community pharmacy at the heart of the NHS. In this, the second issue of Talking Point, we hope to show you more ways in which this is possible, and in particular we look at projects demonstrating the importance of work around medicines optimisation.”
The third edition of Talking Point will be published in November this year with a focus on community pharmacy integration with other health and social care providers. If you have a story that you think we should include in Talking Point, please email email@example.com
